Whoever said that sponsors brainwash their players and tell them what to say!!!

Beckham on staying with Milan: “Nothing is impossible if you truly believe in something,”

But David is smart, he switched it up!

Another interview with La Gazzetta Dello Sport on the gap between Inter:

“It’s true [that] there is a large gap between us but I still believe we are the stronger team”

“It’s important to remain attached to Juve. The Scudetto? I will never say it is over but we must work hard to reduce the deficit that is currently stopping us from being challengers.”

What about Galaxy Becks!!!!??

“I haven’t talked to anyone from the Los Angeles Galaxy recently; my lawyer is occupied with that”
In other words, his people are talking to their people.”

.
Uncle Fester “Galliani” as usual has something to say about his new crush Becks. (His honeymoon with Dinho is over).

“We are working to keep Beckham with us until June 30, 2010,”

“In the USA Beckham is considered a testimony for their league and he also has other commercial contracts, that is why Galaxy are asking so much.”*

“David is available to miss out on large amounts of money, now it depends on him and what his lawyers will be able to do, who are in Los Angeles to discuss the situation,”

“We are waiting to see what will happen.”

“The possibilities are: David will go back to Los Angeles on March 9, or he stays until May 31, or he will remain until June 30, 2010. I don’t want to make any percentages now, but it’s clear I’m hoping for the third option.”

*According to reports (Nothing Official) Milan offered 3 million euro and LA Galaxy are asking for 12 million euro.

Coach Ancelotti had a few pleasant sentiment words to say for Becks, maybe that will keep him.

“Beckham was a beautiful transfer and he is unique in terms of his professionalism,”

“If his stay at Milan ends on March 9 then at least we will have nice memories of him.”

Aaaaand now go: “Awwwwww”

As a Milanista you first support your team, and second hate Inter. Plus Beckham was a former Man Utd. Player and is still a fan, here is what he had to say about the anticipated Champions League game between Inter – Manchester United.

“I can’t wait,”

“I haven’t been to many United games since I left so as soon as this match was announced I looked to see if I was still going to be in Milan when it would be played.”

“I’m so excited about it, but it’s also a great opportunity to see the likes of Rio [Ferdinand], Wazza [Wayne Rooney] and, of course, Giggsy [Ryan Giggs] and Scholesy [Paul Scholes] who I haven’t seen for a while.”

“Oh yes, I’ve been a United fan all and always will be,”

“I’ve still got friends in the team who I played with at Old Trafford and still play with for England. So I always follow how they’re doing.”

Game ended 0-0, hopefully the Red Devils will finish them at the Old Trafford.

Of course in “Becks World” everything is publicity and media circus. This Monday Beckham was at the Adidas Store in Milan. “David Beckham presented the brand new Predator Powerserve DB at the adidas store in Milan. For the english football star there were thousands of people outside the shop. A real success!”

Here are some pictures.

Becks is expected to play on Thursday in the UEFA Cup return leg game against Werder Bremen at the San Siro. 1st leg ended 1-1 with Super Pippo scoring.

Forza Milan! Forza Beckham!

A lot of talk is going around these days around Beckham’s future. Will he go back to L.A Galaxy on March 9th? Or will he stay with Milan? In the past 3 days he went from going back for sure to staying for sure. Nothing is tangible, rumors flying all around the world. Many people have been talking about it; it’s not even funny anymore. When you see his name “Beckham” on the non-sport daily news in Canada/North America and is up there with Super Bowl news and other N.American Sport news, you know it’s big. My friends, who know nothing about soccer are asking me “is Beckham really staying at AC Milan?!”. Sport shows here too are actually really talking about the subject, even though they don’t have all their facts straight, but they’re at least trying. If anything, all the Sport Analysts, even though you can say they barely know anything about this, they all point out that he should stay because that’s obviously what’s best for the athlete.

This is the latest from Beckham to Il Corriere Dello Sport, he says it out and loud.

“At the moment Milan are more important to me than the money,”

“I want to think about football first and about my career. “

“It’s important for me to be allowed to stay at Milan permanently so I can have the chance to play regularly and to be part of England’s World Cup 2010 squad.”

“I haven’t spoken to the Galaxy yet, but someone is doing this on my behalf. I am really hoping that a deal can be reached.”

“I had a feeling I would do well, but I didn’t expect to have so much fun,” added the Englishman. “The approach during training and the atmosphere are the best I have ever experienced in my entire football career.”

“[Carlo] Ancelotti is an important coach and, when you enter the dressing room, you begin to feel the great atmosphere.”

“[Paolo] Maldini has also helped me settle down. He has charisma and personality and he is a great friend.”

L.A Galaxy Coach Bruce Arena waving the white flag?!

“Whatever happens happens,”

“Whichever the outcome of the deal, it will be for the good of the club. This is a deal and we are waiting to see exactly what happens, which is the same as what we usually do with any other Galaxy deal.”

“Of course, we will always put the needs of the club and team first.”

“I just hope that all the news about Beckham does not create any distractions or complications for my players during our preparations.”

Words from former Coach Sir Alex Ferguson,

“It would be the most natural thing he could do, to get back into the real hotbed of football,”

“This is a golden moment for the lad and I think he’ll take it.”

“If the two clubs can work out a deal then I think it will happen.”

“If they [Milan] give him that opportunity it would be silly not to take it,”

“He’s had a spell at Galaxy and, fine, they’ve paid him an awful lot of money and they should have some loyalty from him.”

“But being selfish, if I was given the chance to go to Milan, I would take it. There’s no chance he can do it in two years.”

Arsenal French boss Wenger,

“Any person in life wants to play at the best level and going to the States is going down. You never do that without feeling not right somewhere. “

“He was lucky because he’s David Beckham so he could rectify that and come back to the top level.”

“I personally encourage my players to play as high as they can because that’s where you want to be, so I am not surprised he [Beckham] made that decision.”

Words of appraisal from former Milan ace Jose Altafini,

“I have always said that there aren’t many players who are able to change a game,”

“[Diego] Maradona, Pele, Kaka and [Lionel] Messi are examples.”

“Beckham doesn’t quite fall into that category, but he does give something extra to the team. He is like the icing on the cake and he makes a difference.”

“He is a serious player and he is always training well. He has integrated well in Milan and he is doing great. It’s extraordinary.”

And Finally from the pitbull himself Ringhio Gattuso,

“He wants to stay. I can sense it by watching him in training,”

“Let’s call a spade a spade: he could only dream about experiencing what he feels here if he goes back to the United States.”

“He never wastes a single ball and nobody really expected him to make such an impact. It seems like he has been with us for ages.”

Milan will play Reggina on Saturday before the big derby next week against Inter. On Saturday Beckham in expected to play alongside Ambrosini & Flamini (Pirlo is suspended) and reports are claiming Ronaldinho might start with Kaka & Pato infront of him.

Until Then…
Forza Milan! & Forza Beckham!

Another great performance from Becks, 2 great assists helped Milan win 3-0 against Lazio. Now he just can’t leave! He should listen to Sir Bobby Robson “Beckham has earned a vast fortune. Now he should consider spending a few million to buy himself out of LA Galaxy and keep his World Cup dream alive,”

“David has one last chance on the world stage – playing for England at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa – and he must do everything to satisfy that.

“If it means money coming out of his own pocket to facilitate the move to Milan, then so be it. If he goes back to America, the dream is over for David.”

More news from the Milan camp to fuel this saga, Coach Carlo has decided to include Beckham in the UEFA squad list.

The Lazio game. Not the best first half, but everything started to turn for the better in the 2nd half.

Goal.com gave Beckham 7.5.

A brilliant display by the Englishman, as it undoubtedly was his most impressive performance in Milan colours to date. Two wonderful assists to set up the first two goals, and an all round dominant performance that led his side to victory on the night.

Humble words from David,

“The finish from Pato was better,”

“That’s my job, to put the ball in the right place. Although, the finish was better than the pass.”

“I’m very happy. I’m enjoying myself here and I will be happy to play in the UEFA Cup,”

“I’ve learned some words I can’t say on television,” he laughed. “I’m still learning, I’m trying.”

Galliani aka Uncle Fester is holding onto any lifeline to keep Beckham from going back to L.A Galaxy on March 9th.

“We still have small hopes of keeping Beckham with us until the end of the season,”

“We’ll do everything in our power to make this happen. We have included him in the UEFA Cup list because we think that the tie with Werder Bremen will be crucial and he can give us a hand.”

So now….we wait..Patiently.

This Wednesday Milan will travel to Glasgow for a completely unnecessary friendly game against the Rangers. The players need all the rest they can get, why schedule an uncalled for friendly?! After that they will face Reggina in Serie A on February the 8th. Becks might be rested for the friendly game to keep him fresh.

Forza Milan! & Forza Beckham!

First goal! Great Performance! Will he stay?!

This weekend Milan went to Bologna to get their revenge from the Season opener loss. A very convincing 4-1 victory gave Milan the 3 points to keep them 6 points away from the leaders Inter. A goal from Clarence Seedorf, 2 from Ricky Kaka and one from our man David. Of course after the game rumors and reports were flying all over regarding Beckham extending his stay. After proving he can still play and provide for the team. So the big question is, will he stay? Well according to Ancelotti, it’s up to David.

David’s Goal against Bologna. Jan 25, 09. 59th minute, Bologna 1-4 Milan.

Goal.com gave him a 7.5 Rating. “He blasted in his first Serie A goal and was involved in many Milan moves. After Bologna were down to ten men he showed his skill-set with some fine passing and movement.”

Words from Coach Carlo Ancelotti on Becks performance and his contract situation:

“It’s up to him to decide,”

“Our hands are tied, because he has a running contract [with LA Galaxy].”

“As long as Beckham is at my disposal, I don’t see why I shouldn’t field him, since he is performing so well.”

“I am patient and sometimes very good,”

“But even I can’t take a player and get him in the team after just 10 days [of training].

“The merit is all his and his desire to return to play important football. He has done it with intelligence. He is a protagonist for this reason.”

“Will he remain? In football everything is possible,”

“We will not put any pressure on him, the choice is up to him.”

“Sure, he knows our wish is that he stays here. The moment Beckham has to return to America will certainly be a sad one also because of the help he is giving the team, the quality of his play and balance.”

“The position that he has in our midfield is ideal for him,”

Ricky Kaka:

“It was great to see David’s first goal for Milan. He is giving us a hand and I hope that he will stay with us for a very long time.”

From the man himself Becks:

“It was a really special goal, and in the same way it is very special to play here. The most important thing was for us to win and now we have even more belief in ourselves ahead of Wednesday’s game.”

“I feel really good here [at Milan]. I have joined a squad that has wanted me for years and I play for exceptional fans. I will remain here until March and then I will see. For now I am only thinking about playing.”

President Silvio Berlusconi after the game to Sport Media Set, outlining that he wants Beckham to stay with Milan.

“Beckham is a champion,”

“We will try and hold onto him.”

AC Milan lawyer Leandro Cantamessa to Sky Sports Italia.

“After March anything can happen. Beckham must first speak to Los Angeles Galaxy and tell them that he is happy here and only then can we begin a new negotiation which is not based on a loan deal.”

Becks will have to pressure L.A Galaxy to let him stay or do whatever so he can stay. Im sure if both David and Milan push Galaxy, Milan will get their way. Basically big teams with big people behind them and big money win over small clubs. L.A Galaxy in this case. It may not be fair but hey this is how the world goes round.

From a Milanista’s perspective, i will agree to this deal for only this season. Next season? too early to tell now, but for one i wouldn’t want to rely on him as a key player. He can be a bench player and help the team and team-mates. So basically, no big investments towards him and don’t depend on him too much. For now, he’s Okay.

Milan and Beckham will be playing Genoa on Wednesday this week. Another important 3 points that must be picked up on the road. Becks has to make sure he’s on top form, Coach Don Fabio Capello will be at the San Siro on Wednesday.

Just a quick note: Thank god Ricky Kaka will be staying with Milan for longer now. He is literally Priceless. The fans showed the management and the world that Ricky Kaka is ours! [Video]. There are stuff more important than money….well actually to be honest, There are stuff more important than MORE money. you need some money first, then it’s not about money, but with no money everything is about money.

Forza Milan, Forza Ricky Kaka & Forza Beckham!

Ancelotti was fooling us all along; he was planning to play Beckham from the beginning of the game against Roma in his debut. Unfortunately David couldn’t help Milan win the 3 points, the game ended with a 2-2 draw; with 2 goals from Pato & Vucinic. 89 minutes, and it’s fair to say Beckham’s performance was pretty decent. You can see the enchanting passes that left his foot were as great, but the problem was there was no one there for the ball, or intercepted by the defence.

Goal.com gave Beckham a 7.0 “It was the new signing’s first competitive match since the end of October, however despite this; it did not take long for the Englishman to make his mark. His dangerous balls into the area were more than impressive, and his impact tonight was outstanding, considering his short time at the club thus far.”

Ancelotti on the sneaky tactic,

“I spoke with the players and told them I intended to play Beckham. We all decided to keep a low profile and not advertise the fact, that way avoiding excessive media attention and pressure on his shoulders.

“Beckham has proved in the few days he has been with us that he is a tactically intelligent player who can provide balance. He also trained well and is in good shape physically, so this was his reward for settling in so quickly.

“I think everyone is happy that Beckham has arrived. I will never tire of pointing out he is an exemplary professional who works hard and everyone knows the situation, so there is no point penalising him because he will only be here for two months.”

Beckham delighted about his debut performance,

“I feel very good and in shape,”

“I was surprised to play from the beginning, but I enjoyed myself a lot. I played better than I believed.

“My objective is to play as many games as possible and to work on my form. I feel lucky. I will look to help Milan.”

“My contract is clear,” “I have to return for the start of the season with LA Galaxy. This is written in my contract.”

“I have no regrets in my career. I am happy to have this chance.”

[On The Scudetto]

“It’s difficult but not impossible,”

“Milan have some of the strongest players in the world. We can do it.”

Pato had some nice words for Becks; those two are getting along pretty well on and off the field.

“He is certainly better than me,”

“I am happy that he came to Milan. Beckham is a great player.”

Milan’s next game is on the 17th when they have another big test against Fiorentina.

Till then, Forza Milan! & Forza Beckham!

First of all, before I talk about Beckham’s 45 minute performance against Hamburg in Dubai, I have something to share. I never doubted Becks skills and talent on the field, but off the field it’s a whole other issue. I consider it a curse, but if he likes to live “Beck & Posh Style” then good for him. Now when it comes to Milan, no player is put before the club, let alone a 3 month loan player. “Media Circus” is exactly what’s going on now, and been going on for David for the last decade of his life. But it’s going too far for Milan, as if it’s like Milan changed their name to “Beckham & Milan”. I’m not blaming him at all; it’s not his fault, like I said it’s a curse. But I hope the media can shut the f*%#k and just let him play in peace. I know it won’t happen, but just a reminder, David is not Milan and will never be anything close; only a few can come close to being THE club and only after spending +20 years with the club (Maldini, Baresi, Costacurta…).

Note: Just to clarify; I honestly believe Beckham is a great player, i have nothing against him. I actually admire him, he went from nothing to the most popular athlete in the world. And I’m sure he will impress everyone with Milan in the next 3 months

Now that Beckham is part of the team. Regardless of the injury scare before the Hamburg game, Beckham managed to get fit and ready to start the game. His performance was decent, nothing too special and nothing bad. It’s a friendly game after all, so it’s practically a training session. We can’t really judge him until he plays at least 2-3 official games.

Video Of Beckham’s Debut In Dubai

Now David has to continue working hard and impress Ancelotti so he can play against Roma on Sunday. Do I think he should play? I really don’t care; it’s all up to Coach Carlo. If he’s the best option out of all the midfielders then Yes. I have faith that Ancelotti won’t let anyone affect his decision, well I hope so. Share your thoughts here on whether Becks should play or not against Roma.

Update:

Beckham Musings:

- England coach Fabio Capello:

“Experience in Milan will leave Beckham in good condition to play with the national team,”

“To play in a team such as Milan, in a league like the Italian one, where all the matches are difficult, is invaluable for him.

“In Italy you draw experience each and every day of the week, and I am expecting him to return in optimal condition.

“He knows that I would not have called him up for England had he not joined Milan, so he has made the right decision,”

- Ex-team mate Crazy Boy Cassano:

“We had a good rapport at the time we played together at Real”

“I can say that, aside from just a marketing phenomenon, we are talking about a great player here.

“I played alongside him and can say that for certain. Beckham will surely do very well at Milan, because he can interpret all of the midfield roles perfectly.”

“When he arrived in the morning for training I – who always have to bother someone – would often play a few jokes on him and he played along. He’s got a good sense of humour.”

Until then, Forza Milan…then Forza Beckham.

He’s here. A peculiar transfer landed David Beckham in Milan on a short term loan, from January 1st until March 9th. His arrival was the spot light of Europe, After Ronaldinho’s extravagant reception; they had to give Becks something. Beckham had a mini reception before the Milan-Udinese game on December 28th. The big question comes up, can he actually do something or is he just a pure publicity stunt.

From my point of view, I say “It can’t hurt at all!” If anything he will just train to stay fit and return to L.A. Galaxy. But if he is fit and ready and Carlo Ancelotti thinks he can play and he does and just helps by assisting a goal or even scoring 1 goal, then that’s not bad at all. He can be just a regular average player who won’t do much, just give a hand; a decent bench player. If he scores and becomes spectacular with classic Beckham passes and plays; then great! But if he start screwing up in 2-3 games, believe me he will be left out back at the Milanello to just train. Let’s not forget in 3 months he will pump an estimated of 13 million euro, that’s when Uncle Fester (Galliani) smiles.

So in conclusion, it can’t hurt; well it won’t hurt a lot. We didn’t make any big risky investment, if anything we’re just gaining. Remember, for now this transfer is for this season alone, not the future!

Ancelotti said many times that David can play anywhere in the 3 central midfield positions. With Gattuso out, he can help Pirlo, Seedorf, Flamini & Ambrosini. Emerson can go buy 2 litters of gas (which is cheap these days) + a lighter and see what happens when he puts them together; I’m sure the outcome will make us Milan fans smile.<del datetime="00"> DIE PUMA DIE</del>. Sorry I just had to.

Here is what some of the Rossoneri had to say about his arrival:

Ancelotti:

“He is a very important player for the club, and we are doing all we can to ensure he settles in well”

“He will be pivotal in the coming months in our quest for the Scudetto”

Galliani:

“We’re satisfied that he is in good physical condition,” he explained. “He’ll be here for nine league games and then we’ll see if he will play in the UEFA Cup as he would only be available during the round of 16.”

Milan Doctor, Meerseeman

“Beckham could go on for another five or six years.”

Legendary Captain Paolo Maldini:

“We found a lad, who hadn’t trained for nearly three months, but I have had a talk to him and I noticed his determination and great desire to throw himself into work.”

“Beckham is a real champion and he wants to start playing as soon as possible because Milan are a great club,”

Class act from Pirlo:

“He is intelligent and has a good sense of positioning. He has everything needed to do well in Italy.”

“Will I take a step back to allow Beckham to play? That is not a problem for me. We can do it and we’ll give it a go.”

Ronaldinho:

“I am very happy about the arrival of Beckham. He can help us win.”

Here is what witty rivals Coach Jose Mourinho had to say about Beck:

“To have one like David Beckham is fantastic. (Smiles) I hope he doesn’t do very well, because he plays in the enemy, but I hope he brings a lot of attention with him. He’s more than a player, he’s something special in the world, not just in the world of sport, and I’m really happy.

“Him, Ronaldinho, (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic – these are the kind of players we need to have in the Italian league to make it again a good commercial product abroad because I think that’s the next step.”

Now Milan are in Dubai for the Winter break to train in the warm weather, plus cash in from the publicity. Beckham’s first game could be on January 11th against Roma, you can expect him from the bench unless he impress big time during training.

Here are some pictures from the Dubai trip,
Enjoy!

So let’s get this going. I’m Fetyani and I’m a Milanista first and last, that’s almost everything. I’m also the blogger of Ronaldinho @ The Offside. Since this blog has been on hiatus for the past couple of months, I thought I’d take over and write about another Milan player. Though my duty ends when David leaves A.C. Milan (most likely March 9th).

Who is David Beckham? Well if you don’t know him, then I suggest you get out from the rock you’ve been under for the last decade. He is actually “The Most Popular Athlete in the World” and he’s married Posh-Spice. He’s not your average player, he is a brand!

He played for two European Giants, winning quite a few silverware with both teams on a high level. With Manchester United, 1993-2003, winning 6 Premier League’s and a UEFA Champions League. With Real Madrid, 2003-2007, 1 Spanish La Liga’s; not too shabby. With England he did well, but well doesn’t cut it in this football world, only silverware do.

At the age of 32, David did something that shocked the world. $200 million in 4 years to live in La La Land [Los Angeles] and kick a rounded ball that’s not basketball or baseball, or even golf. They call it “Soccer”! I know!! In his defense, you can’t completely blame him, his European career was almost over [that’s what we thought] and he secured his future financially for the next…lifetime.

AC Milan almost signed David in the summer of 2007, but L.A Galaxy’s offer was so tempting he decided to move to the City of Angles. Why did he join Milan? The MLS season ends before the European leagues and David needs to stay fit and impress England Coach Don Fabio Capello. Now it’s 2009, Beckham will play from January until March 9th, after that they have a gentleman’s agreement with L.A Galaxy to send him back by then. (Unless he decides to stay, which is also likely).

Next blog I’ll get into the serious stuff, Beckham situation in Milan, presentation in Milan & Dubai Training.

For now enjoy this Beckham Video,

Well, that was interesting.

The passing of the Olympic torch from Beijing to London took on a decidedly Rent-esque flavor at last night’s closing ceremonies. I was struck by the cultural differences between the Chinese closing ceremony and the English part in it. They were worlds apart.

Beckham’s part was small. He was raised out of an open-topped double decker bus to receive a soccer ball from a sweet little girl and drop kick it into the crowd of Chinese volunteers. Then wave, wave.

I’m glad to know he’s a man of much more substance than that, because his presence seemed more like the requisite hot English athlete which, oh yeah, has a HUGE Asian following — isn’t he cute ladies and gentlemen? I have to admit I get sick of the rock star status.

In other Beckham news, turns out that Victoria and David aren’t too keen on Scientology after all. Whew! See? I told you Mrs. Beckham didn’t raise no dummies. Posh and Katie are reportedly growing apart “mainly because of the Beckhams’s (sic) reluctance to become Scientologists.” I, personally, think that the Beckhams are more likely to be interested in basic, easy-going Christianity, a la Chris Klein. But I could be wrong. I’m just a blogger, not a spiritual therapist.
