FA Sets Bar High for Capello
By: jen | May 8th, 2008
The English FA have a firm goal for Capello’s England squad: reach the semifinals of the next World Cup, or the next European Championships.
After failing to qualify for Euro 2008, the FA has announced new targets for English football. Steve McClaren has been critical of the FA’s targets, saying they need to implement strategies to reach their goals rather than just being visionaries.
Anyone know when Capello will name his squad for the England v. USA match on May 28th?

1) Capello doesn’t need a list or give a sh*t, he could probably name a series of targets off the top of his head specific to every national team in Europe, and there’s no doubt he’s got a course sketched for his own.
2) Why is anyone interviewing Steve McClaren…shouldn’t he require a slightly longer period of banishment before he becomes one of the UK’s “leading football pundits,” along with everyone and anyone else who has even the remotest connection to the NT?Posted from

Diane, once again you have shared my thought exactly. I was reading the article and scoffing to myself, “As IF Capello needs someone to hold his hand or be his visionary.”
